Is a well-known Physician of Pakistan. After graduation from Khyber Medical College Peshawar in 1969 he joined the TB control program as a medical officer. During 1974 he secured his post graduation (D.T.C.D.) from Wales, UK. After serving in the TB control program of NWFP for twenty six years he finally retired during 1997 as the Provincial director.

Dr Safi has the distinction of successfully implementing D.O.T.S. in NWFP. It is pertinent to note that NWFP was the only province of Pakistan that achieved W.H.O's targets of cure rate for T.B. It was due to this reason that he represented Pakistan as incharge of first successful TB control program in Geneva, Switzerland in 1996.
