    >Background:

A group of social workers and professionals realized that a large number of able people belonging to the low income groups are being rendered dysfunctional due to blindness caused by cataract, tuberculosis and leprosy. This on the one hand make them a burden on their already poverty stricken families and on the other hand results in a great national loss.

In order to address this staggering situation Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Blindness Relief Association was established in 2001. The association was registered with the provincial social welfare department of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan as a voluntary welfare organization and bears registration number DSW/NWFP/1812

Since 1991 reconstructive surgeries are carried out twice a year with active cooperation of Dr Joch who along with his associates (on average) performs more than a hundred surgeries in each visit.

Dr Joch is well known for his highly commendable work for Afghan Refugees at Peshawar and Afghanistan that spans over a decade.
