    Dr. Joch is well known for his out-standing engagement for refugees of Afghanistan.

    Under the direction of Dr. Ortwin Joch INTERPLAST Germany performed for 10 years humanitarian aid in the refugee camps in Peshawar and Jalalabad. 50 operation teams supported the work of Dr. Joch. 70578 patients have been treated and about 7800 operated. The European Commission in Brussels finished the project Jalalabad at the end of 1999 although 50 patients per day attended the InterPlast hospital Since 2001 Dr Joch and his associates are visiting Peshawar, Pakistan twice a year and in each visit perform more than hundred surgeries in collaboration with Leprosy, Tuberculosis & Blindness Relief Association of Pakistan. Each surgery gives a new life to those operated upon.
